We are thrilled to announce our newest Origins member Amy Gonzalez.
She is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian who specializes in functional holistic nutrition.
After graduating from Texas Christian University Coordinated Program of Dietetics, she began her career working in a hospital setting and then later worked for the government program Woman, Infants, Children (WIC). This is where she found her true calling of working with, and supporting, the mother-child dyad.
Amy’s pivotal moment was when she became pregnant with her son. She used a midwife and was exposed to a completely different model of health and wellness. At the same time, with her own clients, she witnessed a rise in infant allergies, childhood obesity, congenital defects, pregnancy complaints, and delivery complications. Often the link between these issues and nutrition go unrecognized. Instead, they are considered as uncontrollable events, and brushed off as simply “normal symptoms” or as, "just genetic”. That’s when she turned to functional nutrition. Functional nutrition is equipping the body with the raw materials necessary to thrive in a healthful mind and body, where our bodies are equipped with innate healing and recovery. The foods we eat, our nutrition, shapes the very core of our being, all the way down to the expression of our DNA. Amy integrates her clinical nutrition experience with what is considered a more holistic approach to address the root cause.
Through her nutrition consulting practice, The Holistic Dietitian, Amy provides one-on-one nutrition consulting services, pantry purges, grocery store tours, as well as group classes. She utilizes an array of tools including thorough diet review, hands-on functional tests, clinical assessment tools, lingual-neuro testing and nutrient bio-feedback. These tools pinpoint specific nutrient deficiencies as well as underlying signs of dysfunction in the body to provide a comprehensive, individualized approach to nutrition.
By joining the Origins team, Amy will help empower our families by providing knowledge about the nutritional origins of issues such as allergies, infertility, gestational diabetes, morning sickness, and congenital defects. Her mission is to positively influence not only the health of our families, but also the health of our children's children. Having used a midwife for her own pregnancy, she is thrilled to be joining Kaitlyn and Gina to assist Origins' families on their own journeys to health and wellness!
